What can Broun do for you?

I have the displeasure of living in Congressman Paul Broun's district in Georgia. What the hell is wrong with this character? Just about everyone has heard of his contemptible remarks, comparing Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler.

We are fortunate to live in a nation where all people have the right to voice their opinions via any media source they so choose. But there is a responsibility of elected officials including Mr. Broun, to curb their personal biases and bigotry in respect of their office and the constituents they represent. His fallacious comparison echoes a deep rooted antipathy still found in some Southerners. Though he is our elected official, Paul Broun does not represent my family.

President-elect Obama believes in volunteerism. His hope for a strong Peace Corps, separate from our Armed Forces is in no way congruous to a Nazi-like regime. His proposed plan for giving free college education for those who donate time within their communities is not Marxist.

Just because I'm repudiating the statements of a Republican congressman doesn't mean I'm a crazy left-wing advocate. I am an independent that believes that both parties have to come together to accomplish anything during the next four years. Future President Obama will have members of both parties in his cabinet, minus kooks like Paul Broun...Thank God!

Unreliable Chain Mail

I received the following e-mail from my dad just a few days ago. I could not believe what utter crap I was reading. It obviously had been floating around in some family members' mail boxes for some time since I received it after Obama has already been elected. Here, read for yourselves...

This whole scene is getting uglier and uglier. Don't know about any of you, but it frightens me to death. There will be no USA as we know it today or the freedom we have.

National Anthem Stance

Sun, 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, General Bill Ginn' USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain why he doesn’t follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

The General also stated to the Senator that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171... During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. At the very least, 'Stand and Face It'

Senator Obama Live on Sunday states: “As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides, there are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all, it should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose.

I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it. We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we as a Nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails. Perhaps a state or period of mutual concord between our governments.

When I become President, I will seek a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of Islam an unfair injustice. My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons. Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago. She has her views and I have mine'. Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put aside my hatred. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path of hope.

My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country's First Family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America.”

WHAT THE HELL is right! Where did this ugly bogus message originate? Well, here was my rely all response:

It is quite disturbing that such false chain mail gets passed around, spreading fear like a plague epidemic. Please take a look at the following links from very reliable sources that completely disseminate these inaccurate claims.

May I also add that I truly believe president-elect Obama will be a very positive force in leading our nation through some very rocky times. His diplomacy should in no way be equated to being anti-American. The only way America can survive is through civility with other nations. There is nothing wrong with a president who loves his country AND cares for the well being of ALL people even non-Americans. Claims that president Obama will turn America into a Marxist state are completely unsound. Please make sure to check your facts. The truth is easy to find.

What the hell, Sarah???

I am floored by some women's overwhelming support for Governor Sarah Palin. In one interview she proclaims herself a feminist and in another, she refuses to label herself as such. Whether she is a true feminist or not, she does NOT represent the majority of women in America.

It saddens and frustrates me that many of my own friends have succumbed to Palin's "hockey mom" mentality. I don't personally know any hockey, soccer or football mom for that matter who could afford a $150,000 wardrobe during a one month spree, let alone a whole lifetime of shopping ventures.

Fashion aside, Sarah's disregard for women's health issues makes me cringe. To think that in the state of Alaska, with the highest percentage of alleged rapes in America, this woman supported legislation that charges victims for the cost of their rape kits. Looking further into this issue we find that it is the emergency contraception in these kits that she opposes. Perhaps Governor Palin believes that this higher dose of oral contraception is akin to abortion. She also is in favor of banning abortion altogether, even in pregnancies the result of rape and incest. During her interview with Katie Couric she suggests merely counseling these victims as the resolution to their pain.

Sarah Palin continues to prove herself unworthy of White House glory. Her speeches that give rise to the angry mob mentality seem analogous to the days of witch trials and inquisition. Her Senator Obama directed accusations of "Socialism!" and "Palling around with terrorists!" ring in my ears like "Witch!" and "Heretic!" What the hell, Sarah?

In the 21st Century you would think the past residue of hate and ignorance would be a distant memory. But it thrives when disguised as a country bumpkin hockey mom from Alaska.
