What the hell, Sarah???

I am floored by some women's overwhelming support for Governor Sarah Palin. In one interview she proclaims herself a feminist and in another, she refuses to label herself as such. Whether she is a true feminist or not, she does NOT represent the majority of women in America.

It saddens and frustrates me that many of my own friends have succumbed to Palin's "hockey mom" mentality. I don't personally know any hockey, soccer or football mom for that matter who could afford a $150,000 wardrobe during a one month spree, let alone a whole lifetime of shopping ventures.

Fashion aside, Sarah's disregard for women's health issues makes me cringe. To think that in the state of Alaska, with the highest percentage of alleged rapes in America, this woman supported legislation that charges victims for the cost of their rape kits. Looking further into this issue we find that it is the emergency contraception in these kits that she opposes. Perhaps Governor Palin believes that this higher dose of oral contraception is akin to abortion. She also is in favor of banning abortion altogether, even in pregnancies the result of rape and incest. During her interview with Katie Couric she suggests merely counseling these victims as the resolution to their pain.

Sarah Palin continues to prove herself unworthy of White House glory. Her speeches that give rise to the angry mob mentality seem analogous to the days of witch trials and inquisition. Her Senator Obama directed accusations of "Socialism!" and "Palling around with terrorists!" ring in my ears like "Witch!" and "Heretic!" What the hell, Sarah?

In the 21st Century you would think the past residue of hate and ignorance would be a distant memory. But it thrives when disguised as a country bumpkin hockey mom from Alaska.
